Jerry Lee Lewis: Today…..years ago!

Today, in 1957:
On July 28, 1957, Jerry Lee Lewis made his television debut on *The Steve Allen Show*.

…and on July 28, 1968, he played a show at the Buck Lake Ranch Angola/Indiana with his partly reunited 50s band with J.W. Brown and Russ Smith, furthermore with him on stage Kenny Lovelace, sister Linda Gail Lewis & Ned Davis on steel guitar.

…Sadly, a couple of days (5th of August) later Cash´s guitar player, the legendary Luther Perkins, died:
During the early morning of August 3, 1968, Perkins returned from fishing on Old Hickory Lake to his newly-constructed home on Riverwood Drive in Hendersonville, TN. He apparently went to sleep in the living room while holding a lit cigarette. His daughter awoke around 6:00 am to find the living room in flames and Perkins collapsed near the door. An emergency crew rushed Perkins to Vanderbilt University Hospital, where he was kept in intensive care until finally succumbing on Monday, August 5, 1968. His grave is near the graves of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash at Hendersonville Memorial Park in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
