"I was lucky enough to see Jerry play for the first time at the Country Festival in 1981 in
Stockholm. Although this was a rather "quiet" show compared to the rest of that tour, Jerry
was in great shape and I enjoyed it tremendously. Just a few weeks later, we learned that he
had become ill and that he was in the emergency room for a long time. It was a sad period
for all his fans, and we were extremely happy to hear that he made it through it and would still be with us for a long time.
On April 10, 1982 the country festival was in Göteborg (Gothenburg) and we were 6 guys
that went there in an old military VW double cabin pick up. We had a rebel flag and concert
tickets - no hotel or anything, we just couldnt afford it. It was a long drive from Oslo in that
beat up old car, but we made it and saw the Killer once more.
The Ice Stadium trembled as Jerry came on stage, he was very thin, smoking a pipe and
smiling as he sat down behind the old piano and ran through a couple of notes. Kris
Kristofferson was supposed to play the same night, but had to go home because his
daughter had been in an motorcycle accident. Jerry did two of his songs as a tribute. What I
remember best about the show was Bobby Mc Gee, Mean Woman Blues and Drinkin' Wine,
there was no question that the Killer was back and in good shape too. All I had was a pocket
camera, but I got close enough to the stage that I could get a few decent pictures of Jerry, and with a modern scanner, you can do wonders. "

was in the best shape ever, he had just married Shawn and was hotter than a two dollar pistol, as they say down south."

"The copy of "Great Balls of Fire" next to the piano was a copy that was handed to Jerry to
sign. He had just signed two 8 track tapes (!!!!&&&%%%???) for two Aussie girls that shook
their boobs at him as he entered the stage. They didn't take the cellophane off the tapes,
but Jerry did it and signed them in the middle of the show, nice gesture. The book was then
handed to him and Jerry was no longer in a good mood, he improvised a melody to the
words "I dont need this silly book to tell me who I am" and threw it back at the guy. At this
show he forgot to do Great Balls Of Fire, but many other goodies came out of the master
songbook. JM Van Eaton was there, and I think Bill Strom too. Shawn can be seen in some of my pics sitting back watching Jerry play."

"This pic was taken at Hernando's Hideaway on June 3 1984. Jerry had just played the
Memphis Cotton Carnival and held an official concert at the Hideaway. He was in good
shape, but not as cheerful as the year before, due to the tragic events that had taken place
in the meantime. In spite of Jerry announcing the Hideaway gig from the stage of the Cotton
Carnival, there were not too many people at the show, he was scheduled to do two shows, but left after the first for unknown reasons."

"I had not seen him since 1985 and was stunned by his very thin appearance when he
arrived at the hotel. Still he seemed to be in good spirits and put on a short, but rockin' set
that same night. The picture shows Jerry just as he is "kicking" the piano stool away -
actually it was a kitchen chair that they provided him with, probably because they feared he would ruin the piano stool."

"He was in a bad mood for some reason from the start and the cameraman filming the show
did get to be on the receiving end of his temper. Jerry threw his cigar at him at one point and
told him it would be a brick next if he kept walking between him and the audience! Jerry did
wear a t-shirt from my friends Harley Davidson shop, Ben Thor import and that was really cool, we thought."

"I was in the US in the summer of 1987 living on the sofa circuit, visiting friends and having
fun. I saw a lot of great shows, and of course I wanted to see Jerry again as well. One
saturday I called Ken Lovelace and found out they were playing two shows that night and
one the following night at the Beef and Board in Indianapolis, Indiana. I went there to find
out the show was cancelled, but rescheduled for ONE show the next sunday. I am thinking a
deal was struck because of low ticket sales for the shows. I came back for the show the week after and met Ken who took me backstage.
Jerry did a long show and was rockin' pretty good, I don't have the set list here, but I think it
was in FireBall Mail at the time. The guys were going on a commercial flight back to
Memphis that night and both Kenny and JW talked to Jerry several times, but he ignored
them. Some guy at a table close to the stage was making comments and Jerry told him a
couple times to shut up and leave the show to him. When the time came for Shakin' and
kicking the piano stool back, Jerry placed it at the guys table - glass and stuff flying
everywhere. The guys were in a real hurry by now and just ran out the back door and made the flight."

"This was the first show of a week long tour with Jerry in Norway. We had met the guys at
the airport and headed straight for the club where the show was to be held. By the time the
show was to begin we had gotten good and drunk, together with the large audience that
sunday night. Jerry was greeted by a thunderous applause and was in a great mood. On
this picture he is missing Kennys fiddle and I think he is doing Billy Joe Shaver's "Ride Me
Down Easy" as the picture was taken early in the show."

"This was the second night of Jerrys tour of Norway, he was in top form and we were all
gathered round the stage. It was as close as I got to the 1964 Granada as far as re enactments go...............
I scanned in a couple pictures to show you how close we got to Jerry and to the piano.
It was great hanging out with Jerry and the guys every night for a whole week, we wished it would never end.........."

"On the Norwegian tour Jerry played in Oslo twice. The first gig was at a club and the other
was at a concert house. The club had a rowdy and drunk audience and Jerry was in a hot
mood. This first pic shows Jerry getting on stage smoking his cigar and the second one
shows Jerry holding a small bracelet that he found on stage. I think it was thrown at him. It
was not the last item to land on stage that night!"

"After a while, a boot was thrown on stage and I thought for sure the show was over. Oslo
has a history of pissing Jerry off, someone rushed the stage TWICE in 1978 and that ended
the show. On this occasion Jerry grinned and threw it up in the air, see pic and you'll have a
good laugh. Not long after this, the second boot landed on stage and Jerry made some dry
comment about walking home barefoot. The last pic shows Jerry playing with his hand
between his legs and Joel grinning at the unusual image."
